Hillcrest High School Trust Scholarships
The Hillcrest High School Trust offers full or partial scholarships to worthy students each year to attend Hillcrest High School. Students are selected based on academic, sport, cultural or leadership merit as well as financial need. The scholarship fund is administered by the Hillcrest High School Trust Committee and worthy students are chosen after a fair and rigorous selection process.

Broad Selection Criteria
Selection is based on an overall assessment of:
- Academic excellence – the candidate must display an outstanding academic record and commitment to continuing academic excellence. If the candidate is chosen for one of the below criteria instead, they must at minimum meet the academic criteria for admission to Hillcrest High School.
- Sporting excellence – the candidate must display talent in one or many sporting disciplines, with the potential to compete at a professional level. Good sportsmanship displayed on and off the field is vital.
- Cultural excellence – the candidate must display exceptional achievements in a cultural discipline, including, but not limited to, music, dance, arts, theatre, debating or outreach, with the commitment to continuing excellence.
- Leadership excellence – the candidate must display an impeccable leadership record, within school and outside of school, a level of integrity, devotion to duty and ability to uplift other students.
- Financial need – priority will be given to candidates who display some level of financial need.
Application process
- Potential candidates are eligible for application to the Hillcrest High School Trust Scholarship through nomination only. Nominations may be from:
i. A principal or senior staff member at the candidate’s current school or feeder school
ii. A school Governing Body (SGB) member or Trust Committee member at Hillcrest High School
iii. A member of the community who has identified a promising candidate either enrolled at or wishing to attend Hillcrest High School
- Nominees must complete the online application for nominations including a brief motivation for the potential applicant.
- Closing date for submission of nominations – 30 June 2022.
- The potential applicant will then be notified and will be required to complete the online application for candidates and submit the following documents:
- Online application form, including a personal statement as to why they are worthy of the scholarship and why they wish to attend Hillcrest High School
- Most recent school report and last year’s report from the school they are currently enrolled in
- 1 to 2-page Curriculum Vitae (CV) including details about academic achievements, prizes, leadership positions, sports and cultural achievements and any other accomplishments
- Reference letter(s) from the nominee(s)
- Certified copy of unabridged birth certificate or ID document
- Proof of residence
- Certified copy of legal guardians’ ID document(s)
- Evidence of financial need through either a sworn affidavit or proof of guardian’s income
- The applicant’s submission is reviewed by the Hillcrest High School Trust Scholarship Committee and shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview.
- Chosen candidates will then be notified of their success and required to sign acceptance of the scholarship.
Selection for the Hillcrest High School Trust Scholarship is made regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, social background, disability, or any other irrelevant distinction.
Successful candidates agree to participate in an ongoing mentorship programme throughout their school career which will include access to mentorship, invitation to external academic, leadership or cultural events and networking opportunities.
