Chess

Chess is an extra-curricular activity that has enjoyed much success in recent years. Competitions take place regularly against other schools at PADSSA and Durban & Districts level. Our team has won the PADSSA trophy on several occasions and we are the current PADSSA champions!

Public Speaking

Senior and junior teams participate regularly in debating and public speaking contests as well as literary competitions where they achieve much success.

Toastmasters

Toastmasters is a popular activity at our school with twenty-one students taking part in this extramural in 2013.

Word Sessions

Word Sessions is a popular medium for students to share their life experiences, insights, visions and ideas through the medium of performance poetry. The Word Sessions Circle aims to bring awareness and upliftment through words, and to encourage the positive and constructive use of language.

Steel Drum Band

The Steel Drum band is open to all students. The band practices weekly and regularly participates in festivals and competitions, including the National Creative Arts Festival, which it has won five times. Our steel drum band is frequently requested to perform at public functions.

School Choir

The choir meets at lunch break to practice. It participates in annual choir festivals and gives performances at special public events, including Music in the Hills held at Makaranga Lodge, where it is always well received. Recently the choir joined forces with our Glee Choir for a choral ensemble at the Senior Awards Evening.

Gospel Choir

The gospel Choir was formed in 1998 by a group of students after attending a cultural activity held at the Durban City Hall. The choir has grown enormously and, not only is it requested to perform at a variety of community events, it delights all who attend its performances.

Glee Choir

The Glee Choir was started by past pupil and accomplished performer, Judith Hawthorn, two years ago. Their success was immediate, winning the first Eisteddfod that they attended. At the most recent Ethekwini Eisteddfod, the choir achieved 95% and a standing ovation from the adjudicator.

Art Club

The Art Club is an extra-curricular activity for students who have an interest in art and craft activities.

Photography Club

The photography club is available to all students who are interested in the art of photography. During the course of the year they enjoy talks on improving their skills and the importance of light and composition. Students are then encouraged to put into practice what they have learned.

Journalism Club

The Journalism Club give students who love writing, reporting, drawing and photography, a platform to have their work published. The club even caters for students who are interested in publishing and editing. Three or four newspapers are published per year.

Gardening Club

The gardening club was started by a group of students in 2006 with the intention of supplying the needy in surrounding areas with freshly grown vegetables. A secondary aim is to teach our young people to be caring. The club is growing steadily.

catering

Catering Club

Our school prides itself on its active Catering Committee comprising students from Grade 9 – 12. The committee caters for all school sports, many social functions and even the occasional wedding. Those who participate fully in this committee are awarded service awards in the form of merits, half colours and colours.

Fishing, Ecotourism and Outdoors

Fishing is a popular extramural activity at our school. Headed by Mr Panday, the Fishing Club does local excursions to the south coast as well as a few further afield, during the course of the year.

This Students’ Christian Association is an active group that meets weekly during their lunch break.

Hindu Students’ Association

The Hindu Student's Association is a multi-cultural and multi-racial organization run by Mrs Ramsern, which aims to celebrate, embrace and discover more about the diverse and vibrant nature of Hinduism.The students meet every Monday at second break, during which discussions, presentations and teachings take place.

Interact

This is the school arm of Rotary International and focuses on community involvement. Our Interact Club, under the guidance of Mrs Lesley Moffat, is constantly busy with the upliftment of either a school or orphanage in need. The fundraising and collecting of goods by the students and their families for the various projects in which they are involved, is nothing short of exemplary.
